The year flew by in a flash, as it usually does. Here we are about a week out from Christmas. Many feel rushed, stressed, and overwhelmed. I just wanted to write a post to send a friendly reminder to you all in the universe. That it’s all ok… It’s ok if you don’t have a specially designed coordinating wrapping paper scheme with all red here or all craft paper there. It doesn’t make you superior in any way, and most certainly doesn’t set you apart from the crowd. If you do have it, and it not something you stress over- in fact its something you enjoy than that’s truly awesome. However for those of you beating yourself up for not having accomplished the perfect instagramable Christmas…. please know your holidays are not ruined. The cookies will sometimes burn, the trees will eivitably get knocked down at some point, and thats ok. That is the nature of life, the imperfections are what make you REAL & to be frank, it’s beautiful. It means you care a great deal to work so hard to make magical memories & that you are fortunate enough to have your health & funds, that your biggest concern is getting everything just right. So take a step back to enjoy this season for yourself as well. You are blessed and you are prefect due to your imperfections. Remember to hug your family, laugh, just sit in the beautiful silence and absorb the energy of goodwill & love all around you. For that love is the most impressive part of the season. Namaste!

Well it was a doozy of a day for me. I woke up pretty optimistic actually, got my yoga in & actually all together & out the door at a decent time. However I could not shake this nagging feeling that there was indeed a holiday performance at my daughters school… The kind where you dress your children up in their holiday fineware & you yourself get all gussied up to go watch them belt out the adorable holiday songs they have been practicing for months. I checked the school calendar- nothing. I checked my email for reminder emails-again nothing. I asked my daughter if she could remember if there was a program today at school- of course she said “no way!” So poor naive mom sent her girl off in a freakin paw patrol dress to school. Thank God my intuition just wouldn’t stop nagging and I asked the teachers at drop off about the situation & sure enough if the program wasn’t happening in less than an hour. So there I sat in the chapel with everyone dressed up to the nines & me in yoga pants… Yes yoga pants & a hoodie. Nice try MaryJean… but honestly your pearls have nothing on my finest athleisurewear….. That in a nut shell is Mercury going retrograde. The unexpected & uncomfortable around every corner, but then again as much as me and my children looked like a couple of misfits up in that chapel. I will never forget my baby girl scanning the audience for us & then when she found us, that huge smile of pride from seeing her momma and sissy there waving like some crazy lunatics…. That part was totally Venus going direct.
Venus went direct this morning in Libra but opposing Uranus. So sudden and earth shaking events pertaining to your love life occurring will be more likey. This doesn’t have to always be related to your romantic love life though. Love is in many forms, like me feeling the love from my baby girls pride in her holiday performance. Or you might suddenly find out your pregnant or that a beloved friend is moving back into the state for example. Venus going direct opposing Uranus can indicate sudden and jolting events in any matter relating to love and relationships in your heart.
Then of course the dreaded Mercury retrograde… Which is truly nothing to fear at all. If you get used to avoiding signing contracts and making huge decisions/ buying electronics during this period, you will grow to see that this period is really more of a Netflix & chill / reflective period of time in your life. Especially leading up to the holidays, take time to slow down think about all you have evolved and overcome in this emotional rollercoaster of a year. Truly enjoy the season and time with your loved ones. For we will be officially out of Mercury retrograde & the shadow period right in time for Christmas. Namaste!
It’s Easter baby! and man do we love us some Easter in our household. When it comes to our favorite holidays its always a toss up between Christmas & Easter (with Halloween as a close runner up). I would even say that Easter has the advantage over Christmas because of the fresh spring weather that is typically at its finest here in Atlanta. So many fun traditions to share with the babies, from egg hunts, painting eggs, and ostereierbaum. Ostereierbaum the German Easter tradition of decorating trees and bushes with decorative eggs. Another pro for team Easter would be that no other holiday glorifies my most favorite meal of any day… BRUNCH, like Easter does. Lastly I would say the overall theme of Easter, the story of Jesus rising from the dead just hits it home for me. It’s the ultimate Phoenix from the ashes story. Jesus was eliminated and still he rose from the ashes. We should all remember this, and carry this vital message in our hearts. Knowing that no matter how much you feel invalid or defeated, that there will forever be room for the rising. Happy Easter!!

We have a family tradition that started when my parents purchased their camper a couple of years ago. We do family camping to celebrate my mother and fathers birthdays. My mothers birthday is at the end of March, and my fathers is right at the beginning of August. So the tradition has just evolved into us doing our spring camping trip and our end of summer trip, that wraps up our summer fun and typically marks the start of our school year.
This year though my parents were going to be out-of-town, so we did spring camping a little bit earlier than usual. This year we had us a fun St. Patrick’s Day camping trip. I can not express how vitally important it is to take your littles camping. These trips were an essential part of my childhood. I will always carry the fondest memories of being out in nature, flying kites, bonding with my little brother and cousins, and making pistachio pudding with my grandmother. I learned how to fish from my father on one of our camping trips and will carry my memories of nature walks with my grandfather forever.
These camping trips are so much more than getting out in nature, they are the creation of beautiful childhood memories that I am so grateful that I can pass down such beautiful memories to my girls. This trip my girls, and my niece had their very first real “slumber party” and we took our eldest on ‘bear hikes’. We finished up our St. Patty’s day up with a corned beef meat pie, braised cabbage steaks with balsamic glaze, and of course Guinness…Always the Guinness. Hoping all had an equally amazing St. Patrick’s Day!!
